GFDA Top 12 For The Week

Here is the GFDA Top 12 for this week:
1) Held Black Eagle Road improvement groundbreaking celebration with Sen. Tester, members of the North Industrial Area Task Force and local public and private leaders who have helped to make this project happen.
2) GFDA Loan Committee approved a $959,500 financing package to enable a $1.7 million Great Falls business expansion; package includes a low interest loan participation. We're still accepting applications for participations, but the funds are going fast so if you're contemplating an expansion contact us right away. Loan Committee also approved an additional $40,309 to enable expansion of a Cut Bank company.
3) Central Montana Defense Alliance efforts paid off with selection of Great Falls as USAF's preferred location of new Air Guard targeting mission. Combined with the new C27-J cargo planes, the two missions will achieve our goal of maintaining MANG's payroll.
4) MATL secured permission from MT DEQ to move the transmission corridor by 2 tenths of a mile outside Cut Bank to try to overcome objections of a property owner.
5) Construction progressed on several GFDA/HPF assisted projects. MT Eggs completed electric and water connections thanks to Northwestern Energy and City of Great Falls. Guy Tabacco Construction completed new foundation for Contract Flooring's new building. Constructed started on the new Cafe Rio at Holiday Village Mall. Parking lot reconstruction started at old Buttrey warehouse for new NAPA Auto Parts SuperStore.
6) GFDA provided a $20,100 in-kind match commitment to GTF's Community Air Service application to try to secure direct flights to Chicago and/or San Francisco.
7) University of Montana's Bureau of Business & Economic Research and MT State Chamber's Economic Outlook in Great Falls presented data showing Cascade County faired the recession better than most of Montana. Nonfarm earnings in Cascade County grew throughout the recession and is projected to grow faster than the state average through 2014.
8) City Commission approved rezoning for the 44 unit Cascade Ridge affordable senior housing development, a partnership of Benefis and NeighborWorks Great Falls.
9) Montana Dept. of Commerce issued guidelines for Primary Worker Training grant program. These funds will go fast so if you are a primary sector business and anticipate an expansion that will require workforce training, contact us as soon as possible.
10) Distributed MSU Great Falls employer survey to GFDA investors, part of our long-term effort to help the college create new programs and adapt existing ones to best meet the needs of Great Falls region businesses.
11) Advertised GFDA staff team opening for an accountant with extensive non-profit fund accounting and federal fund management experience.
12) Scheduled a Fire It Up women owned business networking event September 15th, 6:00 PM at the Tap House Lounge courtyard.
