GFDA Top 12 For The Week

Here is the GFDA Top 12 for this week:
1) Hosted bioenergy prospect visit.
2) Released community survey as part of research to develop brand message to market Great Falls. Please encourage your employees, friends and neighbors to participate in the online survey by October 19; link is
3) BNSF approved rail plan for Great Falls AgriTech Park.
4) High Plains Financial Board approved $566,856 SBA 504 loan to help finance a $1.4 million downtown office renovation project.
5) MT Dept. of Administration announced that GFDA has been selected as one of two new certified MicroBusiness Development Corporations. This will allow us to offer a new loan product to help start-ups and micro-businesses with 10 or fewer employees.
6) Submitted Big Sky Trust Fund and Primary Worker Training grant applications to MT Dept. of Commerce on behalf of an advanced manufacturing company that has selected Great Falls as its top choice for expansion.
7) Discussed draft Forward Great Falls strategic plan with GFDA Advance Division Investors and with a group of local young professionals. GFDA Board subsequently approved draft plan for investor review.
8) GFDA Board approved license agreement with Dali LLC enabling Great Bear Innovation Park to use a rail easement we have with PPL. Board approved a resolution opposing IR-125, an effort to overturn HB 198. Board also amended GFDA's bylaws to increase the number of private investor board seats to maintain a 2:1 private/public balance, corresponding with our private and public investment support.
9) Our business strategists work with all types of businesses and proposed start-ups. Here are two examples of what we try to accomplish to help clients succeed and grow. This week marked a milestone for a client we've worked with for a year to help better understand their pricing and profitability. Client has developed a pricing template to use on each project that gives a clear picture of profitability. We worked with a new client to help improve their business plan and to better understand how to successfully apply for bank financing.
10) Participated in the Rez Biz Tour, coordinated by War Shield Development and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program, with 10 businesses in Great Falls and 8 in Browning.
11) Met with MSU Great Falls and community leaders to discuss long-range building needs to support continued growth of student population and provide space for programs that lead to high wage careers.
12) American Eagle Energy announced it completed drilling and casing a horizontal sidetrack targeting the Bakken Formation in Toole County. Good oil and gas shows were noted throughout drilling of the horizontal section.
