GFDA Top 10 For The Week

Here is the GFDA Top 10 for this week:
1) Annual Investor Lunch featured presentation of Great Falls Brand Print, completing the research phase of our effort to create a strong branding campaign for Great Falls. The Brand Alliance met for an in depth review of the research results. GFDA's Executive Committee approved moving forward with the creative and action plan phases of work, contingent on our raising $25,000 to pay for the work. The MT Dept. of Commerce has already committed $3,600 to the these phases, after funding $14,400 for a portion of the research work through the Big Sky Trust Fund.
2) Participated in a very positive prospect visit with GTF.
3) NorthWestern Energy reached agreement with the Montana Consumer Counsel to move forward with the 40 MW Spion Kop wind farm in Judith Basin County.
4) Exergy Integrated Systems won a $133,000 grant from the MT Board of Research and Commercialization to demonstrate its new Zilo wind turbine in the Great Falls area.
5) Great Falls City Commission approved a Big Sky Trust Fund grant application to the MT Dept. of Commerce to support an aviation manufacturer seeking to start a new manufacturing operation in Great Falls.
6) Montana Refining closed on its purchase of the Westgate Mall property.
7) SBA approved a 504 loan we are making to a Great Falls small business to enable its expansion and the purchase its own building.
8) Hosted SBA's Region 8 Administrator at an event to discuss area financing needs and to recognize expansions by Contract Flooring (financed by Mountain West Bank and a High Plains Financial SBA 504 loan) and Napa Auto (financed by Stockman Bank and a 504 loan from us).
9) Received approval from the International Economic Development Council of the documentation phase for accreditation. GFDA is seeking to become the first economic development organization in the Mountain West to win the coveted Accredited Economic Development Organization recognition.
10) Our independent audit for FY 2011 was completed and we received a clean audit report. In the year ending June 30, 2011, GFDA increased net assets by $289,447. Operations produced net income of $18,607. Private investor support increased 9% from the previous year. Thank you for your support! Our revenue was comprised of private investment, 32%, City and Cascade County investment, 13%, and earned revenue (lending, business strategy and project management), 55%.
