Top 10 for the week of Mar. 23rd

1) MT Advanced Biofuels LLC secured its final air quality permit from the MT Department of Environmental Quality for a 126 million gallon per year ethanol, animal feed and wheat gluten plant to be built in Great Falls.
2) Northwestern Energy gave the notice to proceed for the 40 MW Spion Kop wind farm in Judith Basin County. Construction is scheduled to start this spring on the $86 million project.
3) The GFDA Loan Committee approved a $495,000 loan participation in partnership with Prairie Mountain Bank to finance the purchase of a Great Falls business.
4) The US Small Business Administration named Great Falls as the Montana Small Business Community of the Year! GFDA is proud to have nominated our community for this honor.
5) Congratulations to Bennett Motors, named Montana Family Owned Business of the Year by the SBA! We are proud to have nominated this leading Great Falls business.
6) The City and the Montana Department of Commerce presented another sold-out, successful Made in Montana Marketplace in Great Falls. At the Marketplace, we presented a Tips to Make the Cash Register Ring workshop to a packed room. At MAFB, we presented a workshop on New Venture Essentials, in partnership with the SBA, to 8 retiring airmen considering starting new businesses. 
7) In DC, we participated in Bioenergy Capitol Hill Day as part of our efforts to attract agri-processing investment that adds value to agricultural commodities. The event was sponsored by the American Farm Bureau, National Farmers Union and a number of energy trade organizations. 
8) I had the pleasure of visiting the headquarters of National Electronics Warranty to thank company leaders for being one of the top private sector employers in Great Falls. NEW was recently named one of the 50 best employers in the DC metropolitan area by Washingtonian Magazine and, most importantly, is currently growing its employment in Great Falls.
9) While in DC, I also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of numerous federal agencies, Congressional staff, the National Main Street Center, National Association of Manufacturers and the Manufacturing Institute.
10) We participated in the national Procurement Technical Assistance Center annual conference to learn best practices in helping companies grow through developing new government contracts. We also participated in the Montana Indian Business Alliance training session in Billings.
