Top 12 for the week of April 11th

1) Met with site selectors and corporate real estate executives at the Corenet Global Summit in San Diego.
2) Joined the Montana Advanced Biofuels LLC team and staff from Sen. Baucus' and Sen. Tester's offices to meet with Environmental Protection Agency staff in DC to urge EPA to conclude its carbon pathway study for barley.
3) Worked with an out of state heavy industrial prospect looking for land with rail access, a local business looking to purchase a downtown building, two different clients interested in renovating empty downtown buildings, two new energy prospects, a business hoping to compete for US Forest Service contracts, and a local business looking to adopt new marketing tactics including a customer referral program.
4) Held a groundbreaking ceremony for the water line that will serve the Montana Advanced Biofuels LLC site and the first lots in the Great Falls AgriTech Park.
5) Submitted updated engineering report and grant application to EDA for further road, water and sewer improvements for the AgriTech Park.
6) Underwrote an SBA refinance 504 loan and a 504 loan for a proposed start-up business in Great Falls. Authority for SBA 504 refinance loans expires in September so if you have a commercial real estate term loan ballooning in the next year or two this may be your last chance to look at 504 as an option. 7) Several agri-processing businesses and one of our biofuels prospects won Growth Through Agriculture grants from the Montana Department of Agriculture to help plan for expansions and a start-up.
8) American Power Corporation announced it is moving forward with a feasibility study for the Pace Coal project in Judith Basin.
9) Made a presentation to the Ad Club on the Great Falls BrandPrint. Work on the second phase of the Great Falls brand development effort is underway. The Montana Department of Commerce awarded an additional $7,000 from the Big Sky Trust Fund to support the effort.
10) Jolene Bach started work as our first ever Development Director.
11) Two of our staff team members completed the second week training towards certification as Economic Development Finance Professionals. Three of our team members participated in SBA 504 training.
12) Rebecca Engum earned certification as an Export and Trade Counsellor as part of the National Export Initiative. The certification training was created by the US Commercial Service and the US Small Business Administration to help achieve the Initiative's goal of doubling US exports.
