Top 11 for the week of June 15th

1) Sent a team to eastern Canada to meet with an industrial prospect that has shortlisted Great Falls for a major expansion. Began work on firming the financing and workforce training grants we included in our proposal.
2) Continued work on a second major industrial plant proposed for Great Falls.
3) Created the Great Falls AgriTech Park LLC to facilitate development of the heavy rail-served industrial park. Opened bids for the sewer line to serve the first lots. Postponed the public hearing originally scheduled before the Planning Advisory Board on for June 26. We are working with the Canadian prospect mentioned above on a potential expansion of the first phase of the Park to add 120 acres and expect the public hearing to be held in July.
4) Worked on plans to step up support of the MSTI line project that would allow for the development of billions of dollars of wind farms in central Montana. Northwestern Energy expects to have the Environmental Impact Statement completed by the end of the year.
5) Structured financing for two Great Falls business expansions. Worked with 3 entrepreneurs looking to start businesses in the Great Falls trade area, assisting them with business planning cash flow management, site selection, market research and marketing plans. Assisted a client with questions about bidding regulations for Malmstrom AFB upgrades.
6) Started scheduling appointments with companies and site selectors for a midwest marketing trip later this summer.
7) Formal letters of invitation went out to the founding organizations of the new Downtown Partnership. GFDA is serving as fiscal agent as the Partnership is getting set-up. The Partnership is a coalition of public and private entities committed to continuing to work together to implement the downtown master plan, insuring an exciting, healthy and vibrant downtown Great Falls.
8) Belated congratulations to legislators, farm organizations and state officials for renovations of the Montana State Grain Lab in Great Falls!
9) The US Chamber of Commerce released a report highlighting six Enterprising States for job growth of over 8% in the past decade, naming Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska and Texas.
10) John Gilbert joined the GFDA Board representing the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
11) GFDA has been asked to give a presentation at the national Public Private Partnership conference in Dallas next February. National representatives of GFDA investors US Bank and Wells Fargo are also speaking at the conference.
