Top 10 for the week of June 22nd

Here's the GFDA Top 10 for last week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward. 
1) We worked with our engineers on a rapid expansion of the first phase of the Great Falls AgriTech Park to make room for an industrial prospect. The City Commission approved becoming a co-applicant for an EDA grant application for the Park. The public hearing before the City Planning Board/Zoning Commission has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, July 10 at 3:00 PM.
2) SBA approved a $1,193,000 SBA 504 loan as part of a $3,311,000 financing package with Mountain West Bank to enable local entrepreneurs to purchase and renovate a Great Falls business.
3) Gaelectric is making excellent progress on its partnership with the Bonneville Power Administration and Northwestern Energy to upgrade the existing Colstrip transmission line by 500kv. Galectric plans to bring the first of 10 wind farms online in the fall of 2014, the 80MW first phase of the Jawbone project in Wheatland County. Gaelectric has 1,900 MW of central Montana projects in development.
4) DOD confirmed MANG will continue flying F-15's until at least the fall of 2013, putting to rest uncertainty until the C-130's arrive.
5) MDT started construction on improvements to 2nd Avenue North leading to MAFB's main entrance. The road reconstruction will be followed by beautification efforts, a partnership of Cascade County and the Central Montana Defense Alliance.
6) We worked with a number of companies and entrepreneurs this week. Two individuals looking to start businesses were coached on business planning, including how to do target market analysis, financial projections and secure financing. Coached another entrepreneur looking to purchase an existing business.
7) GFDA partner, the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, has a couple of last minute openings for leadership training this week in Great Falls. Details can be found by contacting GFDA or MMEC, or
8) GFDA Board election results were announced at our annual meeting. Incumbents Allen Funderburk of Grabofsky, VanHeel & Funderburk, Mark Mehta of Mehta Properties and Henry Woloszyn of Optimum were re-elected and Sara Sexe of Sexe, Evenson & Bell P.C. was elected to the Board. New Officers elected for FY 2013: Gene Thayer of Montana Milling, Chair; Bob Butcher of US Bank, Vice Chair; Spencer Woith of Woith Engineering, Treasurer; and, Gene McAllister of the University of Great Falls, Secretary. Executive Committee members elected for FY 2013 include: the Officers named above; John Koppelman, Immediate Past Chair; Bill Bronson, City of Great Falls; Joe Briggs, Cascade County; Dexter Busby of Montana Refining, AgriTech Park Task Force Chair; Al Frankl of Dick Anderson Construction, Marketing Committee Chair; Allen Funderburk of Grabofsky, VanHeel & Funderburk, Loan Committee Co-Chair; Jerry Hood of Edward Jones Investment Advisors, Business Strategy Committee Chair; and, Kreg Jones of Davidson Companies, Investor Relations Committee Chair.
9) Lillian Sunwall, our procurement Technical Assistance Center Director, achieved mastery level in Small business Programs from the Federal Acquisition Institute.
10) Our federal and state audit season is underway. This week we passed USDA and SBDC reviews with flying colors.
