Top 10 for the week of Sep 7th

Here's the GFDA Top 10 for this week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward. 
 
1) Great progress this week on the Great Falls AgriTech Park. Construction work started on the sewer line to the Park. The Storm Drainage Report was completed. The City Commission authorized the City Manager to proceed with a study to create a tax increment financing district for the Park and the Montana Advanced Biofuels site. GFDA's Board approved the annexation agreement with the City.
2) Our Canadian prospect was back in town this week for a series of positive meetings. We continued work with several companies that are looking for sites in Great Falls.
3) Our new marketing exhibit was completed in time for next week's oil sands show in Alberta, along with an updated marketing flyer for the AgriTech Park and a new gap financing rack card.
4) The GFDA Board approved creation of our new Enterprise Loan Fund. We met with another development team interested in using the funds for bridge and gap financing for a  major redevelopment project in the City. We are now accepting applications for the first $950,000 in available loan funds and it looks like these funds will be put to work quickly, so if you have a real estate project financing need that your bank can't entirely, contact us soon or have your loan officer call us. Our goal is to build this into a $3 million fund that can support downtown, neighborhood, riverfront and commercial redevelopment throughout the region.
5) Fire It Up, our fall event celebrating and encouraging female entrepreneurship and networking, was a huge success. 6) The High Plains Financial Board approved two SBA 504 loans for two Great Falls businesses.
7) The City Commission approved a property tax abatement for the historic renovation of the circa 1914 Baum-Trinastich building at 114 3rd Street South downtown, also known as the Owl Cigar Building. This is a powerful incentive for those considering renovation of historic properties. 8) Our business strategists assisted a Great Falls business with refinement of its inventory tracking system, continued work with a start-up on financial plans, and worked with a business owner seeking to retire and sell the business to an employee.
9) Hosted our monthly GFDA Investor Development Coffee that provides an opportunity for local companies and developers to meet with City and GFDA staff to discuss issues and opportunities. This week the City's Building Official, Craig Raymond, explained how they have expedited permitting for smaller projects by dedicating a staff person to these permit applications.
