Top 12 for 2-3-2013

1) Worked on an incentive package for a potential call center in Great Falls.

2) Team Great Falls received a standing ovation from the Legislature during Governor Bullock's State of the State address. We continued meeting with state leaders to secure the funds Great Falls College MSU needs to ramp up workforce education and training to meet industrial skill needs.
3) Worked with a local entrepreneur looking at purchasing an existing service business. Met with 5 business owners interested in our new Growth Initiative, designed to help successful businesses make great growth decisions. The Growth Initiative includes the best tools we could find in the country for high growth companies, including Thought Patterns, the GrowthWheel, an Executive BookClub and Professional Development Training. Contact Rebecca Engum at REngum@GFdevelopment.org or 781-6832.
4) Presented our "Site Selector 12 Minute Pitch" at the annual Economic Outlook put on by the University of Montana's Bureau of Business and Economic Research. BBER economists predicted increased growth for the Great Falls region, twice as fast in 2013 as in 2012, and that doesn't even include announced projects such as the ADF Group!
5) Celebrated progress on brownfield clean-up for the new Easter Seals Goodwill downtown headquarters. We have very low interest rate loans available to help redevelop contaminated commercial properties, including lead paint and asbestos. Contact Lillian Sunwall at LSunwall@GFdevelopment.org or 750-1253.
6) We scrambled to meet the required match and drew down the second half of funds for our new MicroBusiness Loan Fund. This caps an aggressive two year effort that increased our available loan capital by $3 million to keep up with demand to fill the financing gaps of businesses and development projects in the Great Falls region. THANK YOU to our partners and investors who made this possible!!!
7) Met with BNSF's new Montana Community Relations head to discuss rail improvements needed in Great Falls.
8) Worked on our out of state marketing plans for the spring and summer. If we can raise enough support from GFDA investors, we'd like to exhibit at two agri-processing shows and two Alberta energy shows in addition to networking at a number of industry meetings and visiting several dozen prospects. If your firm hasn't yet joined the Forward Great Falls campaign, contact Jolene Bach for more information, JBach@GFdevelopment.org or 750-4481.
9) Moderated the Federal policy roundtable at the annual Economic Development Leadership Summit. The discussion focused on changes in Federal policy and regulations that would make economic development more effective at no cost. Already had the opportunity to meet with Sen. Tester to discuss one of the ideas we came up with.
10) Also at the Summit, met with Federal Dept. of Commerce export and foreign direct investment leaders to secure support for our efforts to attract more energy and agri-processing investment in our region.
11) An opportunity is available to be the Exclusive Sponsor of The Fire Within reception honoring women business owners. If you're interested in partnering with GFDA on this popular event, contact Jolene Bach at JBach@GFdevelopment.org or 750-4481.
12) GFDA is looking for a great new team member for a Business Development Associate position. For more info, go to www.GFdevelopment.org GFDA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
