GFDA Top 12 5-27-13

1) Met with commercial brokers, developers and retailers at RECON to talk about opportunities in Great Falls.

2) Good news abounds for downtown Great Falls! Littles announced it is rebuilding. Habitat for Humanity announced it's moving REstore downtown. Wines by Wednesday is opening a new store and Montana Mosaic Gallery has opened downtown.
3) To continue to support redevelopment, we submitted a request to EPA for supplemental Brownfield loan funds.
4) Foundation work is underway on ADF's new fabrication plant.

6) We joined the Montana Manufacturing Council to support expansion of the state's manufacturing sector.
7) Worked with a business on expansion, developing cash flow projections from historic data and market research data for a new line of products and services the company wants to offer. Helped a business looking at relocating to Great Falls with potential financing structures. Helped a couple considering a new business start.
8) Spoke about the three cornerstones of business planning at Family Business Day On The Road at Great Falls College MSU.
9) Finalized the architecture for our new web site. The site will offer a new Finance Center for businesses and developers, a new Data Center for site selectors and companies, a new password-protected portal for GFDA investors, and sections on Why Great Falls, Doing Business Here, Industry Strengths, Real Estate, Workforce and Living Here.
10) Two of our team members participated in SBA 504 training at the National Association of Development Companies annual meeting.
11) The Centers For Medicare and Medicaid Services released data that shows Montana has the 7th lowest charges in the country, 33% below the national average. California has the highest charges at 89% above the national average.
12) Call your friends and family and tell them if they move to Great Falls we'll give them the equivalent 9 free work days off a year! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Great Falls has the 4th shortest metro area commute in the country at 16 minutes. The national average is 25.4 minutes. So, on average you save 18.8 minutes a day which adds up to 9 eight hour work days a year!
Lots of congratulations to go around this week thanks to the hard work and generosity of Great Falls! Great Falls College MSU dedicated its new Bright Beginnings Learning Center. The C.M. Russell Museum announced record results from Western Art Week. The Great Falls Rotary Club dedicated the new lodge at Camp Rotary. And, Gardens from Garbage opened the new Westside Orchard Garden. Congratulations and thank you to all involved in these great projects!!!
