Top 12 for 7-28-2013

1) We submitted a proposal to an international agri-processor that is looking at locations in the US for expansion. We also responded to a national site selector working on siting a back office operation.

2) Submitted a letter to the US Fish and Wildlife Service in support of the Gibson Dam hydroelectric project.
3) Began work with an existing Great Falls business on their financing needs for a planned expansion. Worked with an entrepreneur on sales strategies for business growth. Set a standing meeting with a local business owner to coach keeping focus on achieving goals. Worked with an entrepreneur on financing options. 
4) Assisted a local business with navigating the rules and regulations of a contract opportunity with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Coached several clients on registration issues in the federal System for Award Management (SAM) so they could receive USDA/NRCS contract awards.
5) Three people participated in Start-Up Spark!, an open office format for anyone interested in starting a business. Every participant gets a Business Start-up Kit to get them moving forward with their idea. The next Start-Up Spark! is this Thursday, August 1st, Noon at GFDA, 300 Central Avenue downtown, Suite 406. 6) Join GFDA's Team Alberta! GFDA investors are invited to help plan for the upcoming Oil Sands Show in Ft. McMurray. If we can use our exhibiting to help your company or you can help us with leads, join us on Thursday, August 8, at 3:30 PM at GFDA. Contact Jolene Bach at or 750-4481.
7) Our North Industrial Task Force met to discuss improvements to the Bootlegger/US-87 intersection and updating of the City's transportation plan.
8) The Making Wind Work in Montana event we participated in this week at Great Falls College MSU was picked up and publicized nationwide by the American Wind Energy Association.
9) We joined the Northern Pulse Growers Association. Dry peas, lentils and beans are becoming important crops in our region and offer opportunities for more processing operations.
10) Participated in a national Financing Renewable Energy workshop. We can now offer SBA 504 loans of up to $5 million for renewable energy projects, including smaller wind farms.

12) The Downtown Development Partnership elected officers for the next year. To support this important effort, I'm serving another year as treasurer and will chair the Economic Restructuring Committee.
