GFDA Top Eleven 9-15-13

1) We signed an agreement to sell a 20 acre lot in the Great Falls AgriTech Park for a new agri-processing production plant!

2) We were notified that we made the shortlist for siting a different specialty agri-processing plant that could employ as many as 100 people. The CEO and company team will visit Great Falls in the next few weeks and plan to make a final site selection this fall.

3) We exhibited at the Oil Sands Trade Show in Ft. McMurray, Alberta and networked with a wide variety of companies involved in various aspects of energy development. We enjoyed the warm hospitality of the excellent local economic development team and bunked at one of the new man camps north of Ft. McMurray. We met many Canadians who had great things to say about Great Falls!

4) Signed an $85,000 loan commitment to Hook's Hideaway in Babb to finance completion of their new hotel and RV park.

5) Worked on underwriting a proposed loan to support a local business that wants to open a new manufacturing operation downtown.

6) Reviewed a coaching plan with a local business owner that is looking to expand their business. We discussed the potential for investors and partnerships that could enhance their business plan. Worked with a potential business start-up entrepreneur on regulations and financing structures that would best fit their business goals. Met with a small business to strategize about their new product line and update their marketing for government contracts. Worked with a local entrepreneur on their Growth Through Agriculture financial projections.

7) Facilitated our monthly Peerspective Roundtable and witnessed an ah-ha moment. It was amazing to see the structured process in action produce the intended results! If you are interested in gaining a new perspective to fuel business growth and increased profitability, contact Rebecca Engum at REngum@GFdevelopment.org or 1-406-771-9032.

8) Gave a presentation at the EPA Brownfields Regional meeting in Denver on how to use brownfield loans to spur redevelopment of commercial properties.

9) If you know of a new entrepreneur who's thinking about starting a business, tell them to sign up for one of our upcoming Start-Up Spark! sessions. These brief one hour events provide would-be entrepreneurs with valuable information on how to get started. Every participant leaves with our free Start-Up Kit.
