GFDA Top 12 9-29-13

1) The Montana Dept. of Commerce awarded a $598,400 Big Sky Trust Fund grant to EMTEQ to support the creation of 80 new primary sector jobs. The funds will be used for building materials and equipment.
2) We prepared for an agri-processing prospect site visit this coming week and received notice that Great Falls has been chosen for a site visit later this month by another agri-processing prospect.
3) As part of our efforts to grow the agri-processing industry in the Great Falls region, we started exhibiting today at the AACC International annual meeting in Albuquerque.
4) GFDA's Small Business Development Center is partnering with the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center to offer roundtables for food-based manufacturing. 5) Worked with an entrepreneur looking at a new opportunity in the area to fill an unmet need in the retail market. We worked on cash flow projections, staffing and potential sales using online market data.
6) Participated in consultant interviews with the Tourism Business Improvement District Board to choose an experienced meetings and events team to conduct a study of building or expanding meeting and event facilities in Great Falls. The focus of the study will be an in depth market analysis of what new meetings and events we could attract if we had expanded facilities.
7) The North Industrial Area Task Force held a brainstorming session to look at improving traffic intersection challenges on Highway 87.
8) The Montana Air National Guard completed environmental review for the C-130 conversion with a Finding of No Significant Impact, clearing the way for the new mission.
9) Participated in a freight transportation session as part of the City's Long Range Transportation Plan update. For more information on the plan, go to

11) Great Falls continues to offer businesses and residents with below average operating and living costs. According to Moody's Analytics, the cost of living in Great Falls is 87% of the national average and the cost of business operations is 86% of the national average.
12) The Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce appointed David Weissman as its representative to GFDA's Board of Directors.
