GFDA Top 10 for 2014

Here's the GFDA Top 10 for 2014, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward! We're eager to hit the ground running to start off an exciting year and hope you are too!
Projects already underway or announced for 2014 include the opening of the ADF Group fabrication plant, opening of Health Care Service Corporation's new medical insurance claims processing center, continued growth of EMTEQ's aviation manufacturing operations, Centene filling out its new second shift, ongoing work on Calumet Montana Refining's major expansion, The Talus, Carroll and senior housing new apartment developments, the Hotel Arvon downtown and I-State Trucking's new facility, amongst others.
With the support and active help of our wonderful GFDA investors, out top 10 economic development efforts for 2014 will be:
1) Help existing businesses throughout the Great Falls trade area to thrive and grow, offering business strategy, advocacy and project support, access to state and federal resources, and gap, bridge and longterm low interest financing.
2) Support entrepreneurs to develop and implement plans for new businesses, acquire existing companies, develop new business lines, export and government contracting. We'll launch the second cohort of The Entrepreneur Elite, selecting a small exclusive number of successful second stage entrepreneurs poised for rapid growth.
3) Celebrate the importance and success of women entrepreneur's with The Fire Within event and awards in March, launch quarterly CEO Forums to spark innovative ideas and new ways of looking at business opportunities, and host the first annual Great Falls Untamed! rewarding every business that creates jobs in our community.
4) Boost efforts to expand and diversify our agri-processing and energy industries, working with existing manufacturers and producers, helping entrepreneurs start new ventures and working to attract new businesses and energy projects to our region. We've booked exhibit space at 3 agri-processing and 3 energy trade shows across the U.S. and Canada.
5) We've made a significant investment in buying into seven limited-access site selection consultant networking events in 2014, providing an opportunity to develop relationships with these consultants that steer 30-40% of corporate site selections in the country.
6) 2014 marks the year we'll make the Great Falls AgriTech Park a physical reality, completing the infrastructure for the first four lots to accommodate projects by Pacific Steel & Recycling and Montana Specialty Mills, and creating the first two truly shovel ready rail-served heavy industrial lots in the region to offer to new companies.
7) Support commercial development, for profit and nonprofit, with project advocacy and support, gap and bridge financing, and brownfield clean-up. We'll network at three national commercial and corporate real estate events, meeting with corporate real estate executives, commercial real estate brokers, and hotel, retail and restaurant companies.
8) Continue to support success in riverfront and downtown redevelopment, in partnership with entrepreneurs, developers, the City, Cascade County and the Downtown Development Partnership.
9) Enhance our digital efforts to market Great Falls by launching a new web site and a new Great Falls Digital Innovators effort to engage community members to promote our City online to attract new residents, entrepreneurs, companies and visitors.
10) Very importantly, continue to support key community team efforts including expansion of programs at Great Falls College MSU that lead to high wage jobs, hosting the North Industrial Area Task Force, investing in the Montana Defense Alliance, Downtown Development Partnership and Discount Airline efforts, and leading the Great Falls Marketing Alliance. We'll continue to support the important efforts of the City and Cascade County, our educational and healthcare institutions, NeighborWorks Great Falls, Great Falls International Airport, Downtown Business Improvement District and Tourism Business Improvement District, amongst others.
I'm confident that by working together as Team Great Falls (including our entire trade area), we'll produce concrete results to support our mission of economic growth, diversification and high wage jobs. GFDA is driven by return on investment. As our economy strengthens and grows, everyone benefits and everyone can take credit! We already have 6 clients that plan to make announcements of expansions and new projects in 2014, with more in the works. If there's anything we might be able to do to support your efforts in the new year, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you to our GFDA Investors who make all of our efforts possible! If you haven't invested or reinvested yet, now is the time to do so. In order to make all of the above happen, we need to raise more investment. Our Forward Great Falls investment campaign is at 74% of goal, which is fantastic. This year we need to hit the 90% goal mark. Please contact Jolene Bach on our team to schedule a time when we can sit down and discuss how an investment in Great Falls is an good investment for your company. or 1-406-750-4481.
