GFDA Top 13 for August 11, 2015

Here's the GFDA Top 13 for last week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward.
 
1) We published our first agricultural processing business case that details the market factors making the Great Falls region a competitive location for Pulse Fractionation manufacturing facilities. 2) Our Brownfields property clean-up and redevelopment efforts have earned us the Phoenix Award for EPA Region 8. "The Phoenix Awards inspire and recognize exemplary brownfield redevelopment and revitalization. Winning projects offer a fresh take on significant environmental issues, show innovation and demonstrate masterful community impact." The award will be presented at the National Brownfields Conference next month in Chicago.
3) First People Buffalo Jump State Park in Ulm was officially designated a national historic landmark, adding another boost to the region's cultural tourism offerings. Congratulations to all involved in this 5 year effort. 
4) We signed construction contracts for the road, water, sewer and storm water management infrastructure for the first 6 lots in the Great Falls AgriTech Park. Construction will be completed this season.
5) Passenger traffic at Great Falls International Airport set another record in FY 2015, marking 6 consecutive years of setting passenger records. Over the past 6 years, passenger traffic has increased 24%. The average ticket price dropped 17% in 2014 from the 2013 average.
6) Assisted a local business and contracting officer with a federal contract award issue in the System for Award Management to resolve an entity name discrepancy. For help in pursuing government contracting opportunities, contact Lillian Sunwall at LSunwall@GFdevelopment.org or 1-406-771-9024.
7) Hosted three workshops in the region. Twenty-two entrepreneurs, community leaders and business professionals participated in the Websites for Small Business workshop at Great Falls College MSU. Seventeen participated in Entrepreneurial Spirit Tour stops in Choteau and Fairfield. Our next event is the CEO Forum: Serious Wine, Serious Strategy with Clint Peck of Yellowstone Cellars and Winery on Thursday, August 20th, 2:00 PM in the Providence Forum in UGF's McLaughlin Center. 8) We've launched our Client Satisfaction Survey that we'll use monthly to insure we're providing excellent service. Initial results indicate 100% client satisfaction! Team member Lillian Sunwall received top marks from a client who commented that..."She is extremely knowledgeable in her field of expertise and is a true professional! Her knowledge, expertise and attention to detail have made this whole process easy to understand and seamless to execute."

11) Interested in pursuing federal help to develop your new technology, product or process with the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program? Twenty federal SBIR program managers are traveling to Montana next week to meet with interested businesses and entrepreneurs at the GYRES Summit, August 17-18 in Bozeman.
