Top Ten for 8-25-15

Here's the GFDA Top 19 for last week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward. Another big week for Great Falls!
1) We closed on the sale of the 11.5 acre Lot 5A in the Great Falls AgriTech Park to Ruedebusch Development & Construction which plans to build a 60,000 SF distribution center for a global tenant. United Materials started road improvements to 18th Avenue North serving the Park. After years of effort, we're underway!
2) EPA has awarded us another $500,000 in Brownfield revolving loan funds. This will enable us to finance brownfield clean-up of two or more major riverfront and downtown revitalization projects being planned by developers. This EPA award is on top of the $400,000 grant we secured in May to create a new Brownfield assessment program to support downtown revitalization efforts.
3) The City Commission awarded a HUD HOME grant to NeighborWorks Great Falls to construct a 12-unit 3-bedroom affordable housing complex downtown. The Commission also approved the 171-lot West Ridge subdivision. Two more steps forward in meeting Great Falls' housing needs.
4) The City will see an additional $822,535 in tax revenue this year because of new construction, according to the Montana Department of Revenue.
5) Hosted a large industrial prospect and met with city and utility company representatives.
6) Provided data to an out-of-state agri-processing prospect considering expanding into the Great Falls region. Assisted an appraiser with data about the Great Falls market and economic growth to support a potential housing development.
7) Centene pledged $80,000 to Great Falls College MSU to keep the College's Veteran Success Center open for the next three years. Thank you Centene!
8) We began an effort to attract a rail transload operation to Great Falls. If you would like to get involved in this effort, contact Jeremiah Johnson at or 1-406-750-3285.
9) Construction started on the renovation of the very visible retail building at 10th Avenue South and 9th Street, another step forward in improving one of our major commercial corridors.
10) Worked with a local business on how to market their services to contracting officers with the US Forest Service, BLM and USAF, and on writing an effective capability statement. For more information on our government contracting services, contact Lillian Sunwall at or 1-406-750-1253.
