GFDA Top 10 for 11/15/15



Here's the GFDA Top 10 for this week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward.


1) Worked with an out-of-state real estate investment and development firm that owns property in Great Falls on identifying potential retailers and restaurants to target, also connected the firm with a Montana-based restaurant group and a growing national restaurant chain. Helped an out-of-state business owner and provided follow-up information relating to sites and wages. The prospect visited Great Falls last week and is talking about making a return visit soon for further exploration.

2) Worked with an out of state developer who visited Great Falls to discuss an exciting potential project in our region. 3) T.J. Maxx opened its new 22,000 square foot store in Great Falls.

4) GFDA's Loan Committee approved a $500,000 bridge loan to support the development of workforce rental housing in Great Falls.

5) The City Design Review Board approved plans for th High Line Climbing Center which is planned in downtown Great Falls.

7) Attended that National Association of Development Companies' Annual Meeting in New Orleans to learn about all the changes to the SBA 504 loan program. SBA 504 loans can help lower your equity needed for real estate and heavy equipment.  The current FIXED interest rate is 4.778 for a 20 year loan and 4.176 for a 10 year loan. 9) Attended the National APTAC Fall Training Conference in Washington D.C. Received updates from the Director of Small Business at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and a briefing by Bloomberg's government division on important trends shaping federal contracts for the future and how those trends impact companies. Took courses on Veteran Small Business Certification changes and on how to help small businesses with federal market research and to focus on their specific capabilities.

10) GFDA team members trained on JobsEQ by Chmura, which is our new online tool for accurate labor market data.  JobsEQ will be valuable in providing timely, high-quality and accurate data to clients covering current industry, demographic,  and targeted labor market information and trends.


Congratulations to Lola Raska of the Montana Grain Growers Association on being named one of the 2015 MSU Outstanding Agricultural Leaders.

Congratulations to Commissioner Travis Kavulla of the Montana PSC, on being named president of the National Association of Regulatory Commissioners.
