GFDA Top Twelve For The Week

1) The SBA approved a High Plains Financial 504 loan of $1,025,000 to TD & H Engineers to construct a new office building in Great Falls.
2) Visited with Westgate Mall tenants to offer relocation help.
3) Met with EPA and DEQ to discuss keeping manufacturing and commercial firms up to speed on the smelter Superfund project. Participated in National Brownfield conference in Philadelphia.
4) Received a special grant contract from the MT Dept. of Commerce in the amount of $77,898 to help launch a new High Growth Company initiative focused on intensive coaching and training for expanding and start-up small businesses.
5) GFDA Board approved using a $300,000 grant secured by our Congressional delegation to extend municipal water service this season for the Great Falls AgriTech Park.
6) Met with MSU Great Falls, Great Falls Airport Authority and Central MT Defense Alliance to work on bringing unmanned aerial vehicle training to Great Falls.
7) Presented a workshop on high payoff activities, time management and goal setting at the statewide Invest in Success small business conference in Billings.
8) Participated in Fresh Food Forum to discuss possibility of developing a shared commercial kitchen facility in Great Falls to support small food processors.
9) Joint Land Use Study consultants distributed draft strategy recommendations to the JLUS Technical and Policy Committees.
10) Testified in Helena in favor of HB 439 to fund construction of an industrial trades building at MSU Great Falls to support agriprocessing, agribusiness, energy and manufacturing growth; Senate passed bill on 2nd reading. Testified in support of SB 417, the Military Area Compatibility Act; House Local Government Committee voted in favor 19-1. HB 59, the hydro generation renewable energy bill, passed 3rd reading in the Senate and was transmitted to the Governor. SB 320, which improves the Major Facility Siting Act, passed 3rd reading in the House and was transmitted to the Governor.
11) The Association of Air Force Missileers announced that their National Meeting will be held in Great Falls in October, 2012 to note the 50th anniversary of Malmstrom AFB's crucial role in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Congratulations to the Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, MAFB and the Central MT Defense Alliance for making this happen.
12) GFDA Board endorsed the proposed Great Falls Public Schools levy and urges the entire business community to support continued high quality education for our kids, grand kids and future employees.
