GFDA Top 11 For The Week

Here is the GFDA Top 11 for this week:
1) The GFDA Executive Committee recognized Montana Specialty Mills for progress made in agreements with MaltEurop and Dali LLC to secure a lot with rail access in the Great Bear Innovation Park and gave the company additional time to finalize the agreements to use $264,000 in federal funds to assist with rail improvements.
2) Started work with two existing companies needing to refinance debt using the SBA 504 loan program.
3) Our agri-processing expert, Neil Doty, gave an updated presentation to Great Falls leaders on agri-processing growth opportunities in the region.
4) Started export coaching with two high growth companies and participated in Montana ExportTech trainings in Missoula and Bozeman.
5) Welcomed our 7th Great Falls Brand Development partner, the Great Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau. The new Great Falls Brand Alliance met for the first time and selected 3 finalist firms for the project.
6) Gathered community partners to kick-off looking at feasibility of creating a shared commercial kitchen/food processing facility to support small agri-processing businesses and local food efforts.
7) The GFDA Capital Campaign Planning Committee met and selected 2 finalist firms for the 2012 GFDA capital campaign.
8) Our transportation consultants were in town wrapping up work on the Diversification Transportation competitive assessment that includes intermodal, air cargo and logistics, wide load and truck backhaul opportunities.
9) Five of our Montana legislative priorities moved forward. The House voted 90-10 to override the Governor's Amendatory Veto of HB 59, the hydroelectric renewable energy bill. The Senate approved HB 198 Eminent Domain bill, rescuing wind development for our region. The House upheld its 2nd reading approval of HB 439, the Long Range Bond bill that includes the Industrial Trades building for MSU Great Falls. The Governor signed SB 320 improving the Major Facilities Siting Act. The Senate approved SB 417, the Military Area Compatibility Act as amended by the House.
10) Made a presentation about financing available to assist downtown redevelopment and asbestos/lead paint clean-up to the Great Falls Landlord Association.
11) Preliminary employment data was released showing Cascade County gained 409 jobs in March and that the county labor force had grown to 41,340, its largest in history.
