GFDA Top 10 For The Week

Here is the GFDA Top 10 for this week:
1) Met with energy developers and public and private energy financiers at renewable energy conference in San Francisco.
2) Closed a $75,400 High Plains Financial loan to Doughmakers LLC to finance, in partnership with Bank of Glacier County, move of Subway into the new Toole County Transportation Center in Shelby.
3) Montana Advanced Biofuels released progress information on federal loan guarantee and application for a Montana air quality permit.
4) The City of Great Falls and Downtown Master Plan Steering Committee distributed draft Goals, Objectives and Strategies to working group members.
5) NeighborWorks Great Falls included two GFDA funded projects in their annual real estate awards: Most Improved Downtown Residences to the Lofts @ 503 in the Montana Building (financed in partnership with Stockman Bank), and Best New Commercial Spot to Mountain Mudd Coffee.
6) The International Economic Development Council asked us to be part of the Defense Communities Panel at its annual conference in Charlotte, NC in September. We invited City and County leaders to join our delegation to the conference.
7) GFDA Chair Scott Patera appointed a Nominations Committee to nominate Directors and Officers for FY 2012; Bill Bronson, Steve L'Heureux and Scott will serve on the committee.
8) The Montana Legislature wrapped up its 2011 session. The Senate defeated the Governor's amendatory veto to HB 59, the Hydroelectric Renewable Energy Bill; the Governor subsequently vetoed the bill in its entirety. Legislators will vote by mail to override the Governor's veto. HB 439, the Long Range Bond bill, failed to secure the required 2/3's majority in the House. HB 198, the Eminent Domain bill, survived a reconsideration vote in the House 62-34.
9) Welcomed two new GFDA investors, Best Western Heritage Inn and Source Giant Springs.
10) Participated in the MT Economic Development Association Spring Conference and MT SHRM annual conference.
